Devon Sticker Codes and Decoding them!
Devon Sticker Codes
Devon always placed a I.D. sticker on the finished van, normally behind the passenger seat on the Bulk Head. This sticker carries a code, as yet there does not seem to be any information available on these codes and what they mean. So what I am trying to do, is collate as many of these codes as possible, in an attempt to decode them. This is where you came in. Can you please send me details of your Devon, (see the chart below). At the moment I am only going to work on the codes for "Bays", this is just to keep life simple.

Devon Roof Codes
Devon also placed a sticker in the roof, these had numbers stamped into them, I believe that they are production numbers. In other words if the number say said "Roof No. 4472" then this would be the 4472nd roof off the production line.

Devon Conversion Type and VW Model Type
If you don't know what Conversion you have, please check out the brochures page.

The VW Model Type can be worked out from the chassis number, look at the first three numbers, the first number will be a "2" this is for "Type 2", the second number is Model, the one we are after.
1 = Panel van
2 = Micro Bus 7/9 seater
3 = Kombi i.e. van with factory fitted windows
4 = Deluxe microbus 7/9 seater
The third number is the production year, i.e 8 would be either 1968 or 1978. The rest of the numbers are just the production number off the line for that year.

M-Code date
This is the production date of your van, this can be found on a plate inside your camper. If you go to Type2.com (the link is below) you can work out when your van was born to within a day or two. You can also fined out how your van was kitted out, when it left Volkswagen. How to locate and decode your M-codes and the right calendar to work out the date for the right year.

The D.V.L.A. 1st Registration date and Suffix Letters
This will be useful as it will help in tracking down when the various conversions left the Devon factory and found their way onto the garage forecourt.
